Unexpected Moments

Sunday was one of those days when peace and quiet was desperately needed. Alas, #5 did not agree. She was exhausted, but refused to give in to dreamy oblivion. After an hour of listening through her door to her chatting happily with herself-- we gave up. It was proposed that if we took #5 on a long car ride she might just fall asleep. It was definitely worth a try! (She was exceedingly antisocial by then.) So, we loaded up in the car. The only other youngin' who wanted to go along was #3.

We drove, and drove, and drove. #5 was alert as ever. We drove up into the foothills- eventually winding our way up a gravely incline to the windmills we have always admired from a great distance. They were gi-normous! # 3 wanted his picture taken touching one so that the unlucky siblings who had chosen to remain at home would really, really, really wish they had come. Amazing as the windy giants were, the view from their prospect was even more so.

As we were leaving to head home # 3 decided to clamber up a gravely hill... all the while sliding backwards and getting no where. He happily he yelled "trudge, trudge, trudge!" with each attempt. He would have made a great pioneer.

# 5 never went to sleep.

That looks like so much fun. I didn't know you could get right up to the base of the windmill. We saw one of the blades being taken by truck up 395 and it was HUGE. I even commented how fun it would be to go see them up close. We'll see you there next Sunday!!

Wow! That's pretty cool. I really like the view in the upper left picture. We miss the mountains! Sorry, you didn't get the baby to sleep.
